Welcome to the SHS Club Operation Smile website!
We started Club Operation Smile at Sammamish High School in Bellevue, Washington in 2008 as a way to raise money for a good cause and get students involved in assisting a greater community.
Our purpose is to raise money for the Operation Smile organization. This organization provides surgeries to children in third world countries with cleft lips and or palates. The surgeries only cost $250 and help to pull the child out of isolation in their communities by allowing them to speak, eat and drink without complications.
This year we have a strong leadership team that has been working hard to prepare for a year full of sucessful fundraisers, awareness campaigns and service projects. Some examples of events we have done already include a coin scavenger hunt competition where students collected donations in the neighborhood, a goofy fashion show night, practice SAT tests and card making booths at lunches where students created hundreds of beautiful cards to send to recovering operation smile patients.
With the help of donations from supporters and community members, the hardwork of our dedicated members and the involvement of our school's student body we hope to be able to truly make a difference in the lives of as many children as we can this year. For more info on the organization and cleft lips/palates, visit www.operationsmile.org
Our meetings are every Wednesday at 12:15 in Ms.Dunda's room (above the library). Come check us out!
